Baidu (9888.HK) has been officially included in the Shanghai–Hong Kong and Shenzhen–Hong Kong Stock Connect programs, effective September 7, 2026, opening a direct channel for mainland “southbound” capital to allocate into the stock. Baidu described the inclusion as an important milestone that will help broaden its investor base and enhance share liquidity and market activity.
Multiple foreign investment banks view the move as a near-term positive catalyst. Citi analysts said Stock Connect eligibility could become a key driver for the share price by attracting substantial incremental buy-side interest. Third-party estimates cited by market sources suggest Baidu could see around US$6 billion (about HK$47 billion) in net southbound inflows over the next two to four months. Jefferies added that greater mainland participation should make Baidu’s shareholder base more stable and diversified.
The latest Stock Connect adjustment also added several new-economy stocks, including Qunhe Technology, Xizhi Technology and Jitai Technology, further enriching investment options within Hong Kong’s tech sector and helping sustain investor focus on the new-economy segment.
