The just-concluded 28th Pet Fair Asia in Shanghai set a new record, drawing more than 2,600 exhibitors from home and abroad and attracting a large contingent of overseas buyers—signaling how Chinese smart pet products are leveraging technological advantages to tap into the vast global market.

On the show floor, buyers from Southeast and South Asia expressed strong confidence in China’s intelligent pet-care equipment. Vietnamese purchasers noted that accelerating AI iterations are driving continuous upgrades in pet products, with Chinese brands gaining a solid reputation in local markets. Indian buyers similarly praised Chinese firms’ innovation capabilities, citing leading-edge technology and rapid product cycles as key reasons for traveling to China to source.

Exploding demand has translated into a surge in export orders. At a pet-products manufacturer in Cixi, Zhejiang, production lines are running at full capacity, assembling and shipping thousands of smart pet dryers daily to the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia. The company reported overseas sales up more than 55% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, with full-year export orders expected to reach the tens-of-millions-of-yuan level.

As pet-care philosophy shifts from basic sustenance to optimized wellness, Chinese companies are ramping up R&D and rolling out high-precision smart devices. Offerings now include AI feeders with cat-face recognition, portion tracking, and automated feeding; smart litter boxes equipped with 400x microscopes to screen for health issues; intelligent water fountains that monitor water quality and automatically cut off supply upon detecting anomalies; and smart collars that track heart rate and respiration in real time—pushing pet-care scenarios toward comprehensive, fine-grained intelligence.
Customs data show that in the first half of 2026, China’s pet-product exports reached 2.24 billion yuan, up 21.7% year-on-year, with export momentum steadily climbing. Industry analysts note that China’s end-to-end supply-chain strengths—spanning chips, sensors, device assembly, and software—are enabling firms to bypass intermediaries and connect directly with overseas end markets, strengthening pricing power.
With the global smart-pet market already large and poised for significant growth around 2030, China is converting high-end smart pet technologies into high cost-performance consumer electronics. Backed by AI algorithms, cloud services, and an integrated ecosystem, Chinese brands are well positioned to expand their global market share further.
