Shenzhen has begun installing smart mobile shower units at parks, tourist attractions and transport hubs across the city. Both local residents finishing a workout and Hong Kong visitors travelling north for sightseeing can access the shower service by scanning a QR code and paying digitally.
Locations currently offering the facilities include Talent Park, Bijia Hill Park, Lianhuashan Park, Dameisha Seaside Park and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. Many users have noted that, whereas they previously could only wipe away sweat after outdoor activities, they can now take a hot shower straight away, freshen up and continue with their itinerary.
The shower units offer relatively spacious interiors and are kept clean and well maintained. They come equipped with hooks and self-service lockers, while the water flow is smooth and the temperature remains stable.
The basic fee is just RMB5 for 10 minutes of use. Users can also purchase extra time in two-minute increments, offering a relatively flexible charging model.
The shower units at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport are also equipped with hairdryers and disposable toiletries. They are particularly useful for travellers making a connecting flight after a long-haul journey, allowing them to shower before boarding and travel in greater comfort.
- How to use: Scan a QR code to pay and activate the shower.
- Basic charge: RMB5 for 10 minutes; extra time may be added in two-minute increments.
- Key locations: Major parks across Shenzhen and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.
