Marvel’s annual superhero blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made a triumphant global debut, reuniting golden couple Tom Holland and Zendaya, and welcoming Stranger Things star Sadie Sink to the cast. The North American opening was particularly spectacular. The film earned USD 168 million on its first day alone, surpassing the single-day opening record long held by Avengers: Endgame. According to authoritative box office tracker Comscore, the film’s three-day domestic weekend total reached USD 355 million, ranking as the second-highest opening weekend in Hollywood history, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.

International markets also delivered formidable results. China, Japan, and South Korea collectively contributed USD 23 million in IMAX opening weekend revenue, with China alone accounting for USD 19 million—setting a new IMAX opening record for the Spider-Man franchise. Hong Kong and Southeast Asian markets responded enthusiastically: Hong Kong’s four-day opening exceeded HKD 33.25 million, topping the year’s Hollywood film debuts; Malaysia’s four-day tally surpassed MYR 30 million, marking Sony Pictures’ best local opening in history.

Beyond box office dominance, the film has received widespread critical acclaim. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 90% critics’ score and a 98% audience rating, while earning an A-grade CinemaScore—making it one of the best-reviewed MCU Spider-Man films in recent years. Many seasoned critics have praised this installment as Tom Holland’s finest performance as Spider-Man, noting his nuanced portrayal that captures the character’s isolation and growth with remarkable depth.

The plot continues from the conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home, following Peter Parker as he navigates life forgotten by the world, rebuilding his life alone in New York and returning to his roots as a street-level hero. With richly developed new characters and emotionally resonant storytelling, the film opens a fresh chapter in the Spider-Man universe.
