EventTesla (TSLA) shares have recently staged a notable rally, closing up 5.5% at $367.95, with single-day turnover reaching $22.5 billion (about HK$175.5 billion). Behind the heavy inflow of capital lies strong market anticipation for Tesla’s autonomous taxi, the Cybercab.
Market sources indicate Tesla will hold a Cybercab (Robotaxi) launch event on September 3. The brand has already completed registration for the first batch of 50 Cybercab passenger vehicles in Texas, U.S., signaling that this self-driving taxi is one step closer to commercial pilot operations—and acting as a key catalyst for the recent share-price surge.
As early as August, Tesla rolled out a pre-launch promotion: from August 17 to 23, users who took part in Robotaxi trial rides were automatically entered into a draw. The company randomly selected five winners and invited them to attend the global Cybercab unveiling in Austin, Texas; the winners began receiving official notifications on August 25, getting an early look at the new product.

Industry analysts note that autonomous taxis are a crucial pillar of Tesla’s long-term commercial strategy. If the Cybercab model proves successful in testing, it could open an entirely new revenue stream for the company, reducing reliance on private-car sales alone. As AI and autonomous-driving technologies mature, Robotaxi is widely seen as the next revolution in mobility, with many investors betting that Tesla will seize the first-mover advantage.
However, not all voices in the market are uniformly bullish. Driverless services still face multiple challenges, including regulatory approvals across jurisdictions, safety validation, and operating costs. Beyond revealing Cybercab product details, Tesla is also expected to announce a commercialization timeline at this event—information that could directly influence the stock’s subsequent trajectory, drawing close attention from investors worldwide.
