Hongkongers heading to Shenzhen will soon have a new shopping option, with US supermarket chain Walmart set to open a branch at KK ONE mall in Futian on October 11.
Spanning more than 3,000 square metres, the new store will stock over 10,000 products across sections including seafood, fresh fruit, prepared food, frozen food and household essentials. Unlike supermarkets that charge membership fees, the branch requires no membership, allowing shoppers to walk in and shop — a convenient option for a quick shopping trip across the border.
Four limited-time opening offers
The new store will roll out four opening promotions, featuring free drinks, gifts with purchases and scratch-card prizes:
- October 11–15 | Free coconut water
Shop at designated retailers in KK ONE and present your receipt to redeem free coconut water, available in limited quantities. - October 9–16 | Free coffee
Share a check-in post featuring the new store and the Walmart coffee truck on social media to receive a free coffee. - October 11–17 | Free tote bag with a qualifying purchase
Spend RMB128 or more in-store to receive a complimentary canvas tote bag. - October 11–17 | Guaranteed-win scratch card for new app users
New users of the Walmart app can claim a scratch card with a guaranteed prize.
With complimentary drinks, merchandise and prize giveaways on offer, the opening week adds an extra incentive for Hongkongers planning a Shenzhen shopping trip.
