Anime fans heading north to Shenzhen can visit Butler Academy, the mainland’s first immersive role-playing-game (RPG) restaurant, at BitCity ACG Town in Futian. Unlike an ordinary maid café, the restaurant focuses on cosplay interactions and regularly refreshes its event themes.
The restaurant operates on a reservation-only basis, with three admission sessions. Its live performance sessions are highly sought after, so advance booking is essential.
Visitors can enjoy song-and-dance performances and a range of interactive activities. Ordering omurice comes with a “plate-drawing magic” experience, while Polaroid photo sessions are also available, with butlers adding hand-drawn messages to the photos. Guests can pay extra for private healing-style interactions.
Recommended dishes include the magic pork cutlet omurice and chestnut fruit egg roll. Admission includes a snack and drink, while additional food, drinks and interactions are charged separately. The average spend is about RMB98 or more per person.
